Kathy is a professional clinical counselor, licensed by the state of Ohio (E0500723).
She received a Masters Degree in Community Counseling from John Carroll University in Cleveland and a Bachelors Degree in Education from Notre Dame College of Ohio.
Kathy counsels adults, both individuals and couples.
Her areas of interest include adjustment issues, anxiety and panic disorders, divorce recovery, forgiveness therapy, grief and loss counseling, life transitions, mood disorders, relationship problems, self esteem issues, and spiritual concerns.
She has a particular interest in women’s issues, and has worked as a hospital advocate for battered and raped women, as well as a shelter assistant and hotline volunteer for women in abusive relationships.
Kathy’s philosophy of counseling is client-centered, based on respect for the individual and belief in each person’s intrinsic value.
She believes in the potential of the human spirit to rise above painful life situations.
She believes it is her responsibility as a counselor to assess what the clients’ problems are, to offer hope and support, and to empower them to make the necessary changes in their lives so they can reach their goals and realize their full potential.
Kathy’s approach to counseling is also integrative, focusing on the relationship between thinking, feeling, and acting.
She helps clients think about their beliefs, experience their struggles on a feeling level, and learn to behave in new ways.
Kathy is committed to her own professional, mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional development.
She is a member of the American Counseling Association, the American Association of Christian Counselors, and Chi Sigma Iota, international counseling honor society.
Kathy is an active member of St. Brigid’s Catholic Church in Dublin, Ohio.
Her personal interests include exercise, hiking, dancing, music, reading, traveling, and stimulating conversation.
Kathy enjoys quality time with her daughter, son-in-law, and four grandchildren in the Columbus area. She also spends many weekends in Cleveland, Ohio, visiting her son, daughter-in-law and her three grandchildren. Kathy occasionally travels to California to visit her oldest son and his wife in San Francisco.
